Conservatory Benefits for Your Home

Autumn is well and truly here and it might not be the first thing you think of at this time of year but thanks to the potential of a conservatory with a solid roof or many other options that are available to you, your home can benefit from this extra space all year round.

In our latest piece, we’re going to look at conservatory benefits, the different types of conservatories that are available to you, the types of space you can use them for, solid roof alternatives and whether or not you’ll need planning permission. If you want to find out about these wonderful spaces, read on.

Types of Conservatories

Solid Roof Conservatory

The perfect addition to any home, all year round. A conservatory with a solid rood keeps warm in the winter and cool in the summer, an excellent combo for your family.

These builds make use of an aluminium frame so they are lightweight yet strong and can take on the British weather through all elements.

No doubt a plastered finish within is the most popular finish inside, making this room a perfect transition from any other room in your property. Optionally you can have windows in the roof to allow for sunlight to flood in all year round. Outside your conservatory can benefit from a range of coloured tiles to complete the finishing touches.

Converting an Existing Conservatory

As a side note for new conservatories with a solid roof, more and more we have customers asking us to convert their existing conservatories. We can absolutely deliver on this, taking your existing frame and adding a new insulated roof on top giving you that warmth you’ve longed for in the winter months.

Glass Roof Conservatory

Looking at the more traditional style of conservatory, a glass roof allows for a maximum amount of light in the morning sun or the opportunity of a perfectly clear view of the night sky above. Being of modern build, these conservatories are much more energy-efficient than historical conservatories, and you can even benefit from a self-cleaning glass on the roof. That’s one less job for you!

Polycarbonate Roof Conservatory

If you don’t have the budget for a glass roof but still want to be able to let in that light, then Polycarbonate is the way forward for you. These fantastic conservatories come with a range of finishes and colours with the frames and can suit any home.

What Can You Use A Conservatory For

In short, a conservatory can be used however you wish. We have seen so many uses over the years as we have installed, here are some of the more popular reasons for the extra space on your home:

Dining Room

If you’re fed up of not having space for a stand-alone dining area, a conservatory is a perfect solution. What better way to spend your evening family meals than looking out over the garden. When you’re entertaining guests, you have a perfect space to sit back, relax and enjoy the company under a night sky.

Play Room

A conservatory benefits the whole family – let’s be honest, the kids take up so much space in our homes! A conservatory can make the perfect area for them to play, with ample space for cushions and toys alike, they’re sure to enjoy a space they can call their own. And the best bit is, at the end of the day when you’re simply too tired to tidy up, you can close the door and forget about it for the evening.

Sun Room

When the sun is out, a conservatory is simply a beautiful place to relax. Have a glass of wine or read a book as you enjoy a beautiful afternoon. A bit of peace an quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of your home.

Do I need planning permission?

This is a question we get asked a lot when our customers are planning a conservatory. The usual answer is that you can add a conservatory under permitted development without planning permission from your local council. However, there are rules to be met here so it is best to speak to a member of our team who will be able to confirm this based on your own plans.
